PESHAWAR: Industries links with varsities stressed

PESHAWAR, Aug 7: A meeting of the Industrialists Association of Peshawar (IAP) was held here on Friday to search out solutions to the poor linkages between professional educational institutes and industries.

Some 40 industrialists participated in the monthly meeting, said an IAP press release here. The president of the IAP, Nauman Wazir, presided over the meeting. The President expressed the hope that the MoU between the Federal Academy of Science and Technology (FAST) and IAP would bridge this gap and would be a role model for all other educational institutes of Pakistan.

The industrialists vowed to make Jamrud Industrial Estate a role model industrial estate, he said, adding, the establishment of Industrialists Association Secretariat office is the first towards this end.

Secondly, he said a committee, comprising Sarhad Development Authority and IAP members has been formed in the name of Industrial Estate Management Committee (IEMC) which would look after the infrastructure improvements in the estate.

He said that certain decisions were taken for improving the lot of labourers of the industrial estate.

The IAP will also help the workers in accommodating them in labour colonies, he said. Adeel Rauf, President of SCCI in his short comments on the occasion underscored the need for environmental protection programmes.-APP
