LAHORE: APCA strike called off

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Aug 6: The All Pakistan Clerks Association on Friday called off its strike in the Punjab Textbook Board after a notification of five clerks' promotions and assurance by the board chairperson about promotion of remaining clerks at the earliest.

It may be mentioned that the APCA had called a strike for an indefinite period to protest against board chairperson's Dr Fauzia Saleemi's failure to pay heed to the employees' demands regarding their promotions.

APCA's provincial, Lahore and PTB unit leaders had also organized a protest demonstration against the PTB chairperson on Thursday after having a meeting with the chairperson. APCA leaders Khalilur Rehman, Zafar Ali Khan, Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal and others again met the PTB chairperson on Friday.

The chairperson told the delegation that the board had promoted two assistant secretaries and three clerks, while the remaining clerical staff would be promoted soon. Meanwhile, the two assistant secretaries and three clerks, who have been promoted, met the PTB chairperson and thanked her for promoting them.
