By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Aug 5: The centre has directed the Punjab government to immediately submit an inquiry report on attempt on the life of Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz in Jaffar village near Fatehjang, a source told Dawn.

A joint investigation team led by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rawalpindi, Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed is working on the case, but so far it has failed to trace the whereabouts of the suicide bomber.

A source close to the investigation said the team was working on the left over pieces of the shirt, which they believe, the suicide bomber was wearing. Ch Iftikhar Ahmed on Wednesday visited the site where the incident took place and examined it from different angles. Investigators are also examining the video film of the incident to trace clue to the bomber.

Police are also questioning the people who had been with the religious groups in the past. However, none of them has been arrested so far. Statements of survivors have also been recorded.
