LAHORE: Biggest-ever hash haul in Punjab

By Reporter

LAHORE, Aug 5: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Thursday claimed to have made the biggest-ever hashish seizure in the province.

ANF's Punjab commander Brig Ashfaqur Rashid Khan said at a press conference that 9,760 kilograms of hashish was due to be smuggled to Canada. "Its price in local and international markets is in billions of rupees."

Brig Khan said his force had got information about the drug consignment. Special teams were set up which followed a suspect up to Akhtarabad in Okara, some 100 kilometres from here. The suspect, Aqeel Muhammad alias Kabli Khan, was taken into custody and questioned, he added.

He said the arrested man took the teams to a godown in Okara which was packed with hashish which was brought to the Lahore ANF office.

He said the suspect in custody led the investigators to the arrest of three more men, Mori Gul from tribal area, Rana Zubair Safdar from Sheikhupura and Rana Ejaz Ahmad alias Judge from Okara. He claimed that Aqeel was the ring leader. A case has been registered.
