HYDERABAD, Aug 4: Maidservant (Aaya) Zarina Kausar of Darul Aman, Hyderabad, was arrested by the Qasimabad police on Wednesday after registration of a case against her and two officials on the complaint of a woman writer, Salma Baloch alias Amar Sindhu.
The case was lodged under sections 10, 13 and 14 of the Zina Hudood Ordinance and sections 166, 504 and 34 of the PPC against the Darul Aman's assistant director Mrs Iqbal Shafi, probation officer Irshad Baloch and the maidservant.
The complainant stated that the accused had been using seven women for prostitution before their escape from the Darul Aman. Meanwhile, the Sindh chief minister's inspection team has launched an inquiry into the escape of the women from Darul Aman.
The two member team comprising Col (rtd) Asad Mirza and Amjad arrived in the Darul Aman and conducted preliminary investigations into the escape incident. They met four women living there and inspected the kitchen's store from where the women had fled.
The team will record statements of the seven women who are staying in a shelter house in Karachi called Panah. On Tuesday it was announced by the Sindh government functionaries that the Darul Aman officials had been suspended but till Wednesday, they were attending their duties. Mrs Shafi clarified that she had not received any suspension order. The Darul Aman management is refusing to allow media persons to enter the shelter house.
