HYDERABAD, July 31: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader MNA Dr Sahebzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair has condemned the arrest of Imams and Ulema.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he regretted that the sanctity of mosques was being violated in a country which had come into existence in the name of Islam.

He alleged that to please their 'foreign masters', the rulers were harassing Ulema. It was a conspiracy to convert Pakistan into a secular state and destroy Islamic values, he added.

Dr Zubair, who is the senior vice-president of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan, said interference in religion would not be tolerated and Ulema would continue to raise voice against dictators.

He wondered what the rulers wanted to prove by banning the use of loudspeakers in mosques.

He demanded that the ban on the use of loudspeakers in mosques should be lifted and cases against Ulema under the Loudspeaker Act should be cancelled.

PMA: The president of the Pakistan Medical Association, Sindh, Dr Noor Mohammad Memon has lauded the bold decision of Sindh Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani to remove lower grade officers working on higher administrative posts in Auqaf and agriculture departments.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he appealed to the chief secretary to include the Sindh health department in the list because it was the worst affected department.

Dr Memon said ever since the introduction of devolution system, all service rules especially the rule of seniority in appointment and postings had been totally done away with.

Dr Memon said very senior and experienced lady doctors were not being posted on administrative posts on the basis ofgender. He said bigger health units in rural areas had been deprived of services of specialists.
