KARACHI: Long spells of power failures irk citizens

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 30: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation failed to provide uninterrupted electricity to its consumers as power breakdowns occurred in various localities on Friday.

A resident of Federal B Area, block 14, said his locality had experienced a power breakdown at 3.45am which continued till 10am. Apart from the early morning breakdown, another power cut occurred at around 8pm, he added.

A caller from Gulshan-i-Iqbal, block 13-D, told Dawn that his locality had been without electricity since afternoon. A resident of Federal B Area, block 16, told Dawn that his locality had multiple power breakdowns the previous night from 10pm to 1am.

A complainant from North Nazimabad, block L, phoned Dawn office to complain against a power breakdown as a result of tripping of a power feeder. "Our complaint centre says the power feeder tripped. But they also say that the KESC was making efforts to provide power by getting electricity from other localities. They have not succeeded so far," he said.
