KARACHI: Notices issued to AG on detention plea


KARACHI, July 23: The Sindh High Court on Friday issued pre-admission notices to the home secretary, advocate-general Sindh for July 30 on two identical petitions challenging the detention of Mohajir Qaumi Movement leaders , Kamran Rizvi and Zafar Aziz.

Citing the Home department Sindh, the jail authorities and the SHO of Landhi police station as respondents, the brothers of detained leaders Syed Noman Rizvi and Salman Aziz prayed to the court to declare the detention order illegal and detainees be released forthwith.

SHC's division bench, comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Gulzar Ahmed, after preliminary hearing issued pre-admission notice to respondents as well as the AG Sindh for July 30.

Meanwhile, a division bench of the Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Gulzar Ahmed, on Friday issued notice to Karachi Building Control Authority, the City government Karachi and others on a petition against illegal construction in Khadda Market area in Karachi.

Agha Abdul Karim submitted in a petition that respondent Ms Aisha Ahmed, with the collusion of KBCA officials, is constructing five floors on his property without any legal documents and permission. -PPI
