COLOMBO, July 22: Discipline has never been a hallmark of Pakistan cricketers and it is quite evident here that the team management has no control over the off-the-field activities of the players, especially the senior players.
The players do not conform to the protocol during official functions and care less about curfew hours. They have been seen leaving the official functions midway, casually attired whereas the other teams diligently observe protocol.
It is not an unusual sight to see Pakistani players frequenting the bar after midnight and loitering aimlessly around the facilities of the five-star hotel where they are staying.
Haroon Rasheed, the team manager, seems to be scared of the players power and just looks the other way when he sees a player not observing discipline.
He appears to be least interested in rocking the boat, fearing senior players could force him out of his job.
Perhaps, because of his look-the-other-way approach, the manager has survived and has been a permanent fixture in the PCB setup irrespective of changes at the top.
However, his attitude and handling incidents of indiscipline are bringing a bad name to Pakistan cricket.
