MMA to force Pervez to quit by 31st Dec: LAHORE July 17: MMA central leader Maulana Ameer Hussain Gillani has said the alliance would not allow Gen. Perez Musharraf to remain in army uniform even for a single day after deadline falling on December 31. "Musharraf has no option but to quit as COAS," he told reporters today. Maulana Gillani said present military sponsored regime has failed on all fronts. Afghan president orders release of 66 Pakistani prisoners: KABUL, July 17: Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai has ordered the release of 66 Pakistani prisoners ahead of his trip to Pakistan next week, a presidential spokesman said today.   (DPA)(Posted @ 23:55 PST) Security situation tense in Mazar-e-Sharif: KABUL, July 17: In Afghanistan, the security situation was very tense in Mazar-e-Sharif. The situation become tense in the city when the tension increased between commander Ata Muhammad and Security Chief of the city, Commander Khaki Rizwan. The provincial Reconstruction commission spokesman in Mazar-e-Sharif said that they have information that the armed people were getting advantage by wearing police uniform. Authorities do not know how many people will be contacted, but the effort is expected to expand "significantly" in the next week or so, according to the Post.   (Reuters) (Posted @ 09:45 PST) Report claims Iraq's Allawi killed insurgents: SYDNEY, July 17: An Australian journalist today claimed that Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi shot seven Iraqi insurgents with a pistol at a Baghdad police station in the week preceding the handover of power from the United States last month. Paul McGeough, writing in The Sydney Morning Herald, said two unnamed witnesses to the execution-style killings told him Allawi shot seven insurgents, six of whom died.
