ISLAMABAD, July 15: Former Test paceman Sarfraz Nawaz on Thursday expressed his fear that new Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer may destroy the career of fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar. "It is difficult to understand that why Woolmer is asking Shoaib and other fast bowlers to short their run-up.

"During his coaching tenure with the cricket team of South Africa, he (Woolmer) never asked South African bowlers to short their run-up. "I have played cricket for my country for a long time and I felt that Englishmen can not see any Asian player on top of the cricket world, said Sarfraz"

Sarfraz blamed PCB chief executive Ramiz Raja for making anti-player policies and demanded of President General Pervez Musharraf, who is also the patron of PCB, to personally review the recently made policies and take stern action against the officials.

He further said that Ramiz and former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar were working with mutual understanding. "They both getting commissions from foreign cricket's administrators for appointing English coaches for their home teams," he maintained.

Sarfraz hailed the efforts of Senate Standing Committee on Sports for questioning PCB bosses about their wrong policies. He urged standing committee chairman to also call sports journalists and former Test cricketers in the upcoming meeting on July 19 with PCB officials. -PPI
