ISLAMABAD, July 12: A significant increase was recorded at Mangla Dam to 1,049ft from the dead level of 1,040ft, having an inflow of 32,301 cusecs, besides improvement of water inflows in all the major rivers of the country
especially in Indus, Chenab and Kabul owing to increase in snow melting process and recent rains.
Speaking to APP here on Monday, an official of the Indus River System Authority (Irsa) said water inflows of rivers were increasing day by day due to snow melting process and rains in the upper parts of the country.
Irsa said that due to better inflow in rivers, water situation was getting better. Water inflow at the dam remained 32,301 cusecs and outflow was recorded only 12,000 cusecs.
"We are expecting further water level improvement within next few days due to remarkable increase of inflow at both the major water reservoirs, Tarbela as well as Mangla," he said.
Water level at Tarbela, the biggest water reservoir of the country, was recorded at 1430.98ft, which is about 62ft above than the dead level, 1,369ft. According to official data released by Irsa on Monday, water inflow at Tarbela dam remained 202,200 cusecs and release was recorded 180,000 cusecs to meet the need of Punjab and Sindh.
