Officials named for Asia Cup

LAHORE, July 12: The International Cricket Council has nominated only two umpires from its elite panel for the forthcoming Asia Cup.

David Shepherd from England and Billy Bowden of New Zealand from the elite panel will supervise the matches from the second round onwards, including the final.

Pakistan will be represented at the tournament by Nadeem Ghauri, who will only perform TV umpire duties. Billy Doctrove of the West Indies and Australia's Peter Parker, who are on the ICC's international panel of umpires, will be joined by Asoka de Silva, Tyronne Wijewardena (both from Sri Lanka), A.V. Jayaparkash (India), Akhtaruddin Shaheen (Bangladesh) and the South African duo of Ian Howell and Brian Jerling.

The tournament's match referees are Mike Procter of South Africa and Sri Lanka's Roshan Mahanama.
