'Pakistan keen to settle Kashmir issue through talks'
PESHAWAR, July 12: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Dr Syed Ghazi Gulab Jamal has said that Pakistan wants to resolve the Kashmir dispute with India through meaningful dialogue in accordance with UN resolutions.
He was talking to reporters at the residence of MMA leader Senator Maulana Samiul Haq. Chairman of Standing Committee on Local Bodies and MNA Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani was also present on the occasion.
The minister said that Pakistan had always preferred talks to resolve the Kashmir dispute as in the realm of international relations, wars never resolved disputes. The minister expressed the hope that the process of composite dialogue between Pakistan and India would provide a mechanism for initiating meaningful interaction for resolving the Kashmir problem.
He repudiated the impression of change of stance on this issue and said "we are firm on our principled stand on Kashmir." About Wana operation, the minister said that operation against foreign militants was in line with laws of Fata.
Supporting the policy of registration of aliens in Wana, the minister said that foreigners had to get valid documents for legalizing their stay in Pakistan.
