HYDERABAD, July 8: The executive engineer, irrigation, Hala division, here on Thursday announced a water rotation programme for the division. According to schedule, water channels, including the Lundo Distributary, Kumblima Minor, Nakur Distributary, Shahdpur sub- division, Shahdadpur Distributary, Kubo Yahan Minor, Burrira Minor, Bhobhar Minor, Darah Minor, Tando Adam sub-division, and Thano Minor, Dasoori Minor, Bhumphar Distributary RD30 to 53, and the Hadeeki Distributary, Tando Adam sub-division-II, will remain open from July 8 to July 16.
Channels, including the Pat Minor, Gujhro Minor, Jamjani Minor, Kehi Minor, Noori Distributary, Dhandho Minor, Matiari Distributary, Khybrani Minor and the Sultanpur Minor, will remain open from July 9 to July 17.
Similarly, the Tarah Distributary, Rano Minor, Dhabri Minor, Shaikhani Minor, Chher Minor, Hala/Saeedabad sub-division, and the Husri Distributary, Rahuki Distributary, Masu sub-division, will remain open from July 9 to July 17.
The Sarhari Distributary, Ordhiano Distributary, Khutiro Minor, Shahdadpur sub-division, Berani Distributary, Sonhari Minor, Bhadar Minor, Moriani Minor, Tando Adam sub-division, and the Hadeki Distributary, Tando Adam sub-division, will remain closed from July 8 to July 16.
The Sutriari Minor, Hurbari Minor, New Minor, Rajpari Minor, Mail Minor, DOM Hoti RD-0 to 30, Tando Adam branch RD0 to 25, Sikandar Distributary, Lakhisar Minor, and the Oderolal Minor will remain closed from July 9 to July 17.
Likewise, channels of the Hala branch, Jamali Minor, Gadali Minor, Dethki Minor, Manahi Minor, Saeedabad Distributary, Fatehpur Minor, Hala/Saeedabad sub-division, and the Jam Distributary, Pano Minor, Saeed Khan Distributary, Masu sub-division, will remain closed from July 9 to July 17.
Meanwhile, the chief engineer, Kotri Barrage, Hyderabad, informed Khatedars of the barrage's command area that 40 per cent shortage of water in the River Indus at upstream Kotri Barrage was anticipated for seven to 10 days from July 15. He said the shortage would be managed through a rotation programme.
TEXTBOOKS: The secretary, Sindh Textbook Board, has said the board will supply books to district governments for free distribution among students as and when asked by the Sindh government through the Decentralized Elementary Education Project.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said the board had already supplied books to the district government for distribution among primary students. He said the books would be distributed on July 9 and 10 as announced by the Sindh education and literacy department.
