Clinton calls Vajpayee

NEW DELHI, July 7: Former US President Bill Clinton rang up Indian opposition leader Atal Behari Vajpayee on Wednesday and inquired about the progress of New Delhi's peace talks with Pakistan, Indian news reports said.

There were no details of the coversation between the two former leaders. Mr Clinton had claimed that he and not the Indian forces had helped vacate the Kargil heights in the July 1999 conflict.
