Shujaat to visit all provinces: Party reorganization

LAHORE, July 1: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi announced here on Thursday night that Prime Minister Shujaat Husain would soon visit all the provinces to reorganize and strengthen the PML.

He was speaking at a public meeting at Saddar Bazaar during which he announced ownership rights for the residents of four katchi abadis in the city. The chief minister said for making the country stronger it was necessary to strengthen the political party which had created it. The PML leadership fully realized its responsibility of strengthening the party and the prime minister would visit the provinces for the purpose, he added.

He said the party leadership did not want to promote the PML only in the Punjab. Instead it wanted to strengthen it in every nook and corner of the country. He praised the policies of President Gen Musharraf.

The provinces were progressing due to these policies. They were being given the required funds for development projects, he added. Mr Elahi said his government had made the vision of the president as its mission.

No past Punjab government had initiated such a large development activities in different sectors. He said the development projects being carried out in the country would provide basic amenities to the people besides creating ample job opportunities for them.

Announcing ownership rights for the residents of four katchi abadis, the chief minister said his government had decided to regularize all such localities.

He announced several development projects in the city which included a 28-kanal hospital and a girls and a boys college in Mian Mir. A Rs250 million underpass would also be constructed at Dharampura, he said.

The chief minister announced the construction of an overhead bridge over the railway crossings near Mughalpura's dryport. The work on the Lahore ring road would also be started in near future, he said.

Federal Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan, provincial ministers Arshad Lodhi, Abdul Aleem Khan and Mian Aslam Iqbal and PML candidate from provincial constituency PP-156 Shoaib Siddiqui also spoke on the occasion.
