PESHAWAR, June 29: Misuse of the Supreme Court's decree of banning student politics in educational institutions is creating problems for those applying for admission to colleges.
All colleges have made it mandatory for students to furnish an undertaking with their admission forms stating that they would not participate in politics. Students have been visiting courts in large numbers for preparing the undertaking.
Oath commissioners and notary public agents fleece the students in violation of the NWFP Bar Council Act. After the recent announcement of Secondary School Certificate results, there is unusual rush of students in the courts.
The undertakings have to given on a stamp paper attested by a notary public agent. Students face problems in acquiring stamp papers and then they have pay oath commissioners for attestation. They also have to visit magistrates for taking their signatures.
A student preparing an undertaking said the undertakings should be sought from those applicants students who were given admission. Every student applied to four or five colleges and had to prepare as much undertakings, he said. "Thus he has to spend Rs500 to Rs600 on preparation of the undertakings," he said.
