LARKANA: Three brothers shot dead

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, June 28: Three brothers were killed when five armed men attacked on Monday a village some 10 kilometres away from here. The assailants gunned down Naimatullah in his house in Sultan Jumarani village.

Later, they killed Manzoor Ali and Rahib Ali when they were transplanting paddy in the field. The killers fled after committing the crime. The police said the cause behind the killings was karo-kari.

Ali Haasan, the father of killed men, lodged an FIR with the Rasheed Wagan police against Sikandar, Nusrat, Mukhtiar, Noor Ahmed, Mohammed Zaman, Mushtaque Ahmed and Sadaruddin. The police arrested Sadaruddin. In another case, a woman, Nihalan, was killed on the pretext of karo-kari in Khan-Jo-Goth near Kambar town on Sunday.

DISTRICT BUDGET: The district council on Monday passed its budget for year 2004-05 amidst uproar. A majority of members stood up on their seats and criticized the administration for not providing the copies of budget.

Some members were critical of the district government for not allocating enough funds for rural areas of the district. Mohib Pirzado said that the rural population was ignored and the district council was also neglecting it.

Safdar Mithani said that it was height of ignorance that no funds were allocated for the Indus valley civilization site - Moenjodaro. Umar Khoso cried over an acute water shortage in Shahdadkot where thousands of acres of land was waiting to receive irrigation water. Members endorsed his call and boycotted the session.
