QUETTA, June 27: Leader of the Jamhoori Watan Party Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti has assured the ARD President Makhdoom Amin Faheem of his party's support for the alliance's struggle to restore democracy in the country.

JWP's spokesman Senator Amanullah Kanrani, in a statement issued here on Sunday, said that the ARD president had contacted the JWP leader on telephone and discussed the prevailing situation in the country.

He said that Amin Faheem exchanged views with Nawab bugti on the ARD"s future strategy that would be discussed in the alliance's meeting scheduled to be held in Islamabad on Monday.

The JWP leader, he said, reiterated that the party would play its role in the ARD's struggle.

PUBLIC MOBILIZATION: Earlier, the JWP's executive committee has decided to mobilize people under the banner of the four-party Baloch Solidarity Front besides deciding to contact tribal chieftains to convince them to support the move against mega projects and establishment of cantonments in different areas of the province.

JWP chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti chaired the two-day meeting that was held in Dera Bugti. It concluded on Friday. The committee decided to reorganize the erstwhile Baloch Warna (youth wing) and hold the party's national council session on Aug 16 to elect new office-bearers for its central and provincial bodies.

The meeting discussed the prevailing political situation in the country and pledged to uphold the supremacy of parliament, constitutional rule to ensure strengthening of political and democratic institutions besides getting maximum autonomy for the federating units, enabling the provinces to have more control over their resources.

The JWP's executive committee reiterated that the Baloch masses would not allow what it termed anti-people mega projects or the establishment of cantonments in Sui, Kohlu, and Gwadar areas as the federal government's policy was aimed at protecting the usurpers looting the province's resources.

The meeting endorsed to strengthen the Baloch Solidarity Front, comprising the JWP, the National Party, the Balochistan National Party (Mengal group), and the Baloch Haq Tawar that have joined hands in a bid to protect the national rights of the Baloch people.

The meeting set up three committees headed by ex-chief minister Mir Hamayun Marri, Shahid Hasan Bugti and Senator Amanullah Kanrani to tour different areas of the province.
