ISLAMABAD, June 26: The People's Party Parliamentarians will finalize its future strategy at a meeting here on Sunday evening in the wake of the political situation
arising out of the resignation of prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.
The decision came at an emergent meeting held at the party's central secretariat here on Saturday. PPP president Makhdoom Amin Fahim was in the chair.
It was decided that all legislators of the party would be called to immediately return to the capital for consultations on the new political situation.
The meeting also decided to contact the parties in the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy for evolving a common strategy.
The resignation of Mr Jamali showed that the military leadership had never accepted the civilian and political set-up, despite the fact that the set-up had been put in place by no one but the military itself, the PPP noted.
The meting maintained that the resignation of Mr Jamali had exposed the fallacy of the argument that the National Security Council would ensure political stability.
It demanded that people must be informed as to why Mr Jamali had been forced to resign despite the fact that only on Thursday the National Assembly had reposed confidence in him by passing the budget.
Those who attended the meeting included MNAs Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Chaudhry Manzoor, Nayyar Bukhari, Mujeeb Pirzada, Murtaza Satti, Shahid Bhutto, Rafiq Ahmad Jamali, Manzoor Wassan, Azra Pechoho, Fauzia Wahab, Rukhsana Bangash, Fehmida Mirza, and Sherry Rehman and Senators Raza Rabbani, Enver Baig, Khawaja Akbar and Farhatullah Babar.
