NA special session summoned on June 29: ISLAMABAD, Jun 26: Speaker National Assembly Chaudary Amir Hussain today said a special National Assembly session is being summoned on Tuesday evening June 29 for election of new leader of the House. The special session of the National Assembly is being convened after prorogation of the on-going session by President General Pervez Musharraf, he said talking to newsmen at the residence of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.   (APP) (Posted @ 23:40 PST) MQM demands to ban MMA activities in Karachi : KARACHI, June 26: The MNAs of Muttahida Qaumi Movement have demanded that Chief Minister Sindh Dr Ghulam Arbab Rahim permanently ban Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmed's entry in Karachi. Sindh government had on Friday banned entry of Maulana Fazlur Rahman in the province and disallowed taking out of Peace Rally by MMA in Karachi on June 27, 2004. A large number of policemen were deployed in and around the airport to prevent opposition leader in National Assembly to come out of terminal building.   (PPI) (Posted @ 22:30 PST) Opposition politician Pir Binyamin Rizvi's shot dead in Lahore: LAHORE, June 26: An opposition politician of exiled prime minister Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League was shot dead by two motorcycle riders in Lahore today, police said. "Two men riding on a motorcycle opened fire on Pir Binyamin Rizvi's car in front of Punjab University," police superintendent Faran Baig told AFP. "It appears to be a terrorist attack and we have launched investigations," Baig said. The attackers fled after the attack, he said. Pir Binyamin Rizvi was the vice president of PML-Nawaz in Punjab province. "Two other men travelling with Rizvi died at hospital," Zaeemul Haq Qadri, a party official and spokesman for Sharif told AFP.   (AFP) (Posted @ 22:30 PST) Zardari says he will not go abroad at any cost: KARACHI, June 26: Asif Ali Zardari today said he will never "go abroad as intended by present rulers", especially when "President General Pervez Musharraf is himself preparing to step down." "Nobody can send me on forced exile although murder of Munawar Suharwardi was a clear message for Benazir not to return home and for me to leave the country" he said while talking to newsmen at Central Jail Karachi on hearing of Mir Murataza Bhutto murder case. He claimed that when Benazir Bhutto decided to return back home in March 2004, MPA Abdullah Murad was brutally killed while one of his guard Abdullah Abbasi was also killed mysteriously. And in this month, when Benazir Bhutto intensified efforts to return back country, our beloved colleague Munawar Suharwardi was killed in broad daylight, he added. "I announce our commitment to a truce during the Olympic game period ... hoping this will help to revive the old Greek ritual of creating a generation that enjoys peace," Arafat said.   (Reuters) (Posted @ 13:45 PST) At least six Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in Nablus: NABLUS, June 26: Six Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire today during a search operation in Nablus, according to information from Palestinian and Israeli sources. All the dead were armed militants, mostly members of the radical Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades group, a cell linked to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's mainstream Fatah movement, a Palestinian medical source told AFP. The medical source said five of the Palestinians had been killed by Israeli forces early on Saturday evening. Spidla earlier Saturday only narrowly won a confidence vote within his party, which suffered a embarrassing rout in European Parliament elections earlier in the month.
