ISLAMABAD, June 23: All wings of the Pakistan Muslim League are being re-organized with the active participation of workers to strengthen the party at the grassroots level, says PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

He was speaking at a labour conference organized by the labour wing of the PML here on Tuesday. Chaudhry Shujaat said that initially, priority was being given to re-orgnaizing the party's labour, women and youth wings, adding that strengthening of these wings would help the party face the challenge of next elections.

Chaudhry Shujaat appreciated efforts of PML's Secretary- General Mushahid Hussain Sayed and said his induction in the party had made the Pakistan Muslim League "an effective political party".

Acknowledging Mushahid Hussain's contributions for PML, he said the party's performance had improved after his joining the party. The Pakistan Muslim League President urged newly appointed office bearers of the Labour Wing to work with unity and coordination among all members so that the new entrants in the party could be given due representation in the party affairs.

Senator Mushahid Hussain said that special measures were being taken to enable the party to face the challenges of the local bodies elections in 2005 and general elections in 2007.

He said that he would begin touring various provinces from next month in a bid to establish the party on a stronger footing. He said the issue of IRO 2002 would be discussed with the government so that workers and labourers could get maximum possible benefits and their rights could be protected at all cost.

Newly-appointed office-bearers of the party's labour wing, Syed Faqir Hussain Bokhari, Secretary-General S. Jehangir Ahmed and Assistant Secre-tary-General S. Iqbal Dar, also spoke on the occasion. -APP
