KARACHI, June 22: An activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot dead in Sohrab Goth police limits on Monday night. Police said that Rashid Qureshi, 30, was sitting near the MQM Unit Office in Illyas Goth when two armed men on a motorcycle came and opened fire at him.

He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Police said that he was an activist of the Gulistan-i-Jauhar MQM Unit. He was laid to rest in the New Karachi graveyard following his funeral prayers on Tuesday.

In Azizabad, armed men sprayed a young man with bullets on Monday night. Police said that Arshad Javed was sitting in a park in Azizabad when two armed men on a motorcycle sprayed him with bullets.

RECOVERED: The body of the fourth victim, who had drowned in the sea on Sunday, was recovered from Manora Island on Tuesday. Kazim along with three others had drowned in the sea off Sandspit beach. Three bodies were recovered on Monday and the fourth was washed ashore at Manora Island on Tuesday.
