SRINAGAR, June 21: Three Indian soldiers and a former freedom fighter were killed in occupied Kashmir on Monday, while five Mujahideen were gunned down, police said.

Two soldiers were killed and two critically wounded in an ambush in Chitral area of Poonch district, a police spokesman said. "The troops were heading for a search-out operation when they came under fire from the hiding militants," he said.

The wounded were taken to hospital and reinforcements sent to the area. In Rajouri three Kashmiris and a soldier were killed in another gun battle. In Anantnag suspected Mujahideen killed a member of pro-government group Ikhwan, police said. -AFP
