CAIRO, June 20: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak delegated his powers to Prime Minister Atef Obeid on Sunday during his absence from Egypt for surgery in Germany, state television reported.
"Prime Minister Atef Obeid will take up the constitutional and legal powers and jurisdictions of the president of the republic until he returns," state television quoted a presidential decree as saying. Mubarak is to be treated on Monday in Munich for a slipped disk. -Reuters
