ISLAMABAD, June 12: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Liaquat Ali Jatoi on Saturday said the incentive package announced by President Gen Pervez Musharraf would go a long way in rehabilitating the agriculture sector in the country.

The federal minister, in a statement, said the package would not only provide relief to the growers but also boost the agricultural production.

He said the president had fulfilled the demands of the farmers and gave an attractive incentive package in order to enhance the production of all the crops, particularly the exportable ones.

Apart from other incentives, only the reduction in the interest rate of Zarai loans will benefit a fairly large number of agriculturists. It will give confidence to many farmers, who had so far been reluctant to secure loans for tractors and tubewells, he added.
