LAHORE: Statement recorded against ex-DG FIA

LAHORE, June 12: An accountability court on Saturday recorded the statement of one more prosecution witness in a reference against former FIA director-general Maj Mushtaq Ahmad (retired) and put off the proceedings till June 15.

Mushtaq Ahmad was facing the charges of acquiring illegal assets in his own name and in the names of his dependents, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

CASE ADJOURNED: The hearing in a wilful default reference against Interior Minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat and others was put off till June 19 by an accountability court on Saturday due to the absence of the defence counsel.

The court was to record the statement of a prosecution witness, who was present in the court, but the defence counsel failed to appear before the court due to his engagements before some other court.

It is pertinent to mention that the court had permanently exempted the accused from personal appearance in the court.

Faisal Saleh Hayat and his nine relatives were facing charges of a wilful default of Rs241.07 million loan obtained in the name of the Shah Jewna Textile Mills from the United Bank Limited, Faisalabad, in 1991.-PPI
