MUZAFFARABAD, June 12: The Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF), Sardar Farooq, was suspended on Thursday with effect from the date of his arrest by the Ehtesab Bureau in the Kuth scandal.

Raja Khizar Hayat has been posted as acting CCF.

Sardar Farooq, also serving as the CCF on an officiating basis since July last year, was arrested on June 22 along with six officials and a contractor of the Forests Department. The officer was released on bail on June 3, 2004.

However, the other accused are still behind the bars.

Among other transfers, deputy commissioner of Mirpur, Liaqat Hussain, has been posted as additional secretary (Home) in place of Farhat Ali Mir who had recently been elevated as law department draughtsman, but was holding the additional charge of AS (Home).

Sudhnoti DC, Zahooruddin Gillani, has been posted as additional secretary S&GAD and additional deputy commissioner (general) Mirpur, Zahiruddin Qureshi, has taken over as Sudhnoti DC.

ADC (G) Hattian Bala, Ghulam Bashir Mughal, has been posted as Mirpur DC.
