HYDERABAD: Proposal to increase LLB term to 7 years

HYDERABAD, June 12: The Academic Council of the University of Sindh, at its Saturday's meeting, discussed a proposals to increase the period of LLB programme from five to seven years.

It decided to consult the Pakistan Bar Council in this regard.

The meeting also discussed the issue of allowing the candidates on pass side whose five-year term of examinations had lapsed.

In view of the recommendations by the ombudsman office for allowing the students to appear in different examinations, the council appointed a committee to review such cases.

The academic council approved the upgradation of the Institute of Pharmacy into faculty of pharmacy.

Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui presided over the meeting which was attended by Professor Emeritus Dr N.A. Baloch, Dr N.B.G. Qazi, Dr Shahnawaz Arbani, Isra University V-C Dr Asadullah Qazi, the deans of faculties and directors and chairpersons of various institutes and departments.

MUSLIMS' UNITY: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Allama Altaf Hussain Al-Hussaini has said that the need of the hour for Muslims was to unite on one platform.

He was speaking at the Chehlum ceremony of the martyrs of Hyderi Mosque Karachi at Qadamgah Maula Ali here on Friday.

The message of Allama Sajid Naqvi was also read on the occasion.

He said that Muslims belonging to all sects were brothers and added that to kill a human being was the greatest crime in the eyes of Islam.

He demanded that terrorists involved in Quetta, Mandi Bahauddin, Hyderi Mosque, Imambargah Ali Raza, Dera Ghazi Khan murders and killings of Army jawans and policemen in Karachi should be arrested and awarded exemplary punishment.

He demanded that victims of poisonous water in Hyderabad should be paid adequate compensation and officials concerned be arrested.

Maulana Wahid Qureshi, Nizamul Hyderi, Zakir Zamir Shaikh, Moazzam Shah Jehania and others also spoke on the occasion.
