PESHAWAR: Curriculum changes to be reviewed

PESHAWAR, June 12: The NWFP government has constituted two separate committees under the supervision of the Education Commissionto review the changes made in the curriculum from 1999 to 2004 and submit a report to the federal government.
The commission was formed after the passage of Shariat Bill by thegovernment to makethecurriculum compatible with the Islamic teachings. The commission has convened ajoint meeting of academicians and government officials atthe NWFP Text Book Board office, Peshawar, on June 14 to review the situation arising out of the changes made in the curriculumin Sindh and Punjab.
Mohammad Rahim Haqqani, a spokesman for the commission said in a statement that the government was convinced that no changes had been made in curriculum in the province. However, thegovernment haddecided to make investigations into the issue and compilea report on it.
Minister for Education Maulana Fazl-i-Ali Haqqani wouldsubmit the report to the federal government.
