KARACHI: Pace of uplift projects reviewed


KARACHI, May 31: Progress in respect of ongoing development schemes on Monday came under review at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammed Khan Mahar.

The meeting discussed the position regarding release of funds for proposed projects of special development programme for Sindh. It was emphasised that all ongoing schemes must be completed within the stipulated period.

The mega projects of K-III 100mgd water supply scheme, Lyari Expressway Rehabilitation project, RBOD Phase-II, provision of facilities for development of Thar Coal-mining, lining of water courses and minors, rehabilitation of drainage system, Karachi Mass Transit Scheme came under detailed consideration.

In the meeting, stress was laid on early release of funds so that these projects could be completed in time as these projects are approved by the president who wants to see their completion at the earliest.

It was informed that lining of 9000 water courses will be completed during the next fives years. The meeting was attended by Senior Finance Minister, City Nazim, Additional Chief Secretary Development, DCO Karachi and others. -APP
