Musharraf asked to quit: LAHORE, May 24: Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) vice-chairman Nawabzada Mansoor Ali Khan has urged the President Gen Pervez Musharraf to step down voluntarily for his utter failure to restore law and order and putting the country's stability at stake. Talking with reporters today, he said present regime led by Gen Musharraf has badly failed to deliver goods. Reject Islamic Extremism, Musharraf Tells Pakistan: ISLAMABAD, May 24: President Pervez Musharraf appealed to young people today to shun the forces of conservative Islam, warning that extremism and militancy threaten the country's future. Musharraf, who critics say has not done enough to match his rhetoric against radical Islam since coming to power in a bloodless military coup in 1999, was hard-hitting in a speech broadcast live on state television. "What is the biggest source of extremism? Government detains six militants, seizes weapons: KARACHI, May 24: Police today arrested six more suspects belonging to a militant group that tried to kill President Pervez Musharraf in 2002. U.S. denies latest Pakistan border intrusion claim: KABUL, May 24: The U.S. military said today its troops based in Afghanistan had not strayed into Pakistani territory in the hunt for al Qaeda and Taliban militants since May 2, despite complaints in Islamabad that they had. Thirteen paramilitary troops wounded in grenade attack : QUETTA, May 24 : Unidentified attackers riding a motorcycle threw a grenade, wounding 13 Pakistani troops travelling in a vehicle in Quetta today, police said. Ibrar Hussain, a local police official, said the attack occurred on a busy road in Quetta. He said the injured had been taken to hospital and some were in critical condition. Iraqi scientist died at US base: LONDON, May 24: An Iraqi scientist reputedly close to Saddam Hussein died while being held at a US base in Baghdad, a British newspaper reported today. Professor Mohammed al-Izmerly, whose name appeared on a list of 200 people close to the ousted Iraqi dictator, died of "brainstem compression", according to an official diagnosis by US military doctors, The Guardian newspaper said.
