ISLAMABAD, May 20: The Economic Coordination Committee on Thursday decided to monitor wheat situation every day to ensure check on its availability and price fluctuation.

The Statistical Division was directed to monitor wheat situation from its 35 centres in the country and report every morning to the ECC members.

The committee constituted a four-member committee comprising finance, commerce, industries and agriculture ministers on the import of one million tons of wheat.

The committee would decide whether PASSCO be made responsible or Trading Corporation of Pakistan for its import. It was, however, decided that open international tender would be floated for the import of one million tons of wheat. The meeting also discussed wheat stocks, their procurement and import the commodity as buffer stocks.
