Statement from Delhi welcomed


ISLAMABAD, May 20: Pakistan welcomed on Thursday the statement by Indian Prime Minister-designate Manmohan Singh as "positive" and a "good omen" for the composite dialogue process initiated by the two countries.

Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan reacting to a statement made by Mr Manmohan Singh told APP: "We welcome the statement. Both India and Pakistan should make sincere and earnest efforts to resolve all issues between them."

The spokesman termed it "positive" and added: "It should be a good beginning for productive engagement between the new Indian leadership and Pakistan." -APP
