KARACHI, May 20: Reiterating its demand that the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) be disbanded, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday observed that the component parties of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) were trying to uproot federal and Sindh governments by shattering peace in Karachi.
Speaking at a news conference at the Karachi Press Club (KPC), MQM MNA Haider Abbas, MPAs Abdul Sattar Ansari and Abdul Quddus, member of the MQM coordination committee Younus Mansoori and other leaders accused the JI of killing two and injuring as many MQM supporters last Wednesday.
"Tariq Javed and Ishaq, out supporters from minority community, were killed in Old Sabzimandi area on May 17 whereas two Baloch supporters were attacked and injured in Baldia Town," they told newsmen and claimed that during the last three days, three more MQM supporters had been killed.
The MMA, which has been 'hijacked' by the Jamaat, was turning areas of Baldia Town, Abid Town, Rasheedabad and Gulshan-i-Ghazi into 'no-go areas' for MQM activists and workers of its political allies, they alleged.
They claimed that the Jamaat-i-Islami was also trying to get some fake photographs published in local dailies to defame the MQM. They urged the president, prime minister, Sindh governor and chief minister to take notice of the attacks on MQM workers. -PPI
