QUETTA: Preacher in Quetta feared kidnapped

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, May 16: A Christian preacher, Wilson Fazal, is feared to have been kidnapped, his family members said on Sunday. Wilson Fazal had been receiving threatening letters from an unknown extremist group for the past five days , Jerry Wilson, son of the kidnapped Pentecostal preacher, said. Home secretary and senior police officers had been informed about these threats, he added.

Mr Wilson Fazal, he said, had gone to Bashirabad, a Quetta suburb, to attend the Sunday service in the Pakistan Gospel Assembly Church along with his two sons. His sons had lodged a report with the Airport police station accusing some unknown people to have kidnapped their father.

Meanwhile, Asia Nasir, a minority MNA belonging to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal criticized the government and gave a 48-hour deadline for the recovery of the kidnapped preacher.

She said that such threats had also been received by principals of various schools run by the Christian community in Quetta. Letters sent to the Christian preacher were circulated among the journalists during her press conference. MMA leaders, including provincial minister Maulana Faizullah, condemned the incident.
