19 perish in accident near Isakhel

MIANWALI, April 20: Nineteen people were killed and 11 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a pick-up near Isakhel, some 90km from here, on Monday night.

Thirty people of Kurd, NWFP, were going from the Kark police station after attending an investigation when their pick-up (BUC- 4032) collided with a bus (JC-2722) coming from the opposite direction near Bhatanwala.

Fifteen pick-up passengers died on the spot and four others, including Kurd union council Nazim Saeed Akbar and his son, Abdul Ghafoor, expired in the hospital. Some 11 people sustained injuries and were taken to the Isakhel Tehsil Hospital where the condition of nine was stated to be critical.

Those killed are: Ghulam Jan, Dur Bibi, Said Amir Khan, Hazoor Mohammad, Moenuddin Khan, Haji Ghazmir Khan, Mohammad Khan, Mushtaq Khan, Maula Din, Nazar Khan, Zareef Gul, Anar Gul, Raza Din, Mushtaq, Amir Khan, Raees Khan, Gulmir, Saeed Akbar Khan and Abdul Ghafoor.

The injured include Abdul Khaliq, Zahir, Gul Marjan, Noor Shah, Sarzada, Janat Gul, Iman Bakhsh Khan and Ghulam Jan.
