LAHORE, April 20: A four-member medical commission has been formed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to probe reasons for a number of injuries to the Pakistani cricketers during thehome series against India.
The commission is headed by Dr Abdul Wajid, Orthopaedic Surgeon of Agha Khan University. The other three are Professor Dr Naseer Ahmed, Dr Riaz Ahmad and Dr Sohail Salim, the latter two are the PCB's doctors.
The PCB chairman, announced on Sunday to form a commission, specially, to determine if the paceman Shoaib Akhtar wasgenuinely unfit during the third Test at Rawalpindi.
However, the commission will also examine the injuries of other cricketers including, Umar Gul, Shabbir Ahmed, Abdul Razzaq, Muhammad Sami and Moin Khan. The PCB chief executive Ramiz Hasan Raja announced the names of the commission on Tuesday.
Ramiz said that Shoaib, who is currently in India, was likely to be available before the commission by Sunday. He said that the commission had been given two weeks to examine the injured players and submit its report. The commission would work on long-term basis, he added.
