KARACHI, April 20: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Tuesday announced lists of their candidates for byelections scheduled for May 12 on four vacant seats of National Assembly and two of the Sindh Assembly.
Mr Anwar Alam, in charge of the MQM coordination committee announced the names of MQM candidates at a general workers moot at "Nine Zero".
For NA-240 (Baldia and Pak Colony), Abid Ali Umang has been nominated while for NA-243 (New Karachi and Surjani Town) Abdul Waseem got the ticket. For NA-246 (Liaquatabad-Azizabad) Nisar Panhwar and for NA-236 (Sanghar) Dr Ayub Shaikh are MQM candidates.
On two vacant seats of the Sindh Assembly, the party has given its tickets to Ashfaq Manghi for PS-31 (Khairpur) and for PS-127 (Malir) Yusuf Munir Shaikh has been nominated by the party.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain, addressing workers, asked them to check voter lists with due care to remove errors, if any, and if they do not find names of certain voters, they should seek registration of such voters.
MMA: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal also announced names of its candidates for byelections at a press conference held at Idara Noor-i-Haq. The MMA has issued ticket for NA-240 to Qari Mohammad Usman, for NA-243 to Hafiz Mohammad Taqi and for NA-246 to Rashid Nasim while for PS-127, ticket has been awarded to Qari Mohammad Hanif.
The conference was also addressed by Prof Shah Faridul Haq, Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed and Maulana Yusuf Kasuri.
