ISLAMABAD, April 20: Opposition members of the Democratic Alliance and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) alliance, on Tuesday submitted a notice to requisition the Senate session.

Talking to Dawn, the parliamentary secretary of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) Izhar Amrohvi said that 34 opposition members had put their signatures to the requisition notice, which had been submitted under Article 61, read with Article 54, of the 1973 Constitution.

Under the law, the ARD secretary said, the Senate chairman was bound to summon the session within 14 days of the receipt of the requisition notice. Prominent among those who signed the requisition notice are:

Mian Raza Rabbani (PPP), Dr Safdar Abbasi (PPP), Farhatullah Khan Babar (PPP), Sardar Latif Khosa (PPP), Ishaq Dar (PML-N), Sadia Abbasi (PML-N), Sardar Mahtab Abbasi (PML-N), Sanaullah Baloch (BNM), Amanullah Kanrani (JWP), Raza Mohammad Raza (PkMAP), Prof Khursheed Ahmed (MMA) and Prof Ghafoor Ahmed (MMA).
