KARACHI, April 20: A three-member delegation from the University of Oslo, Norway, visited Lyari Town to explore possibilities of collaboration with the Lyari Community Development Project in public health sector.

The delegation, comprising of Prof Jale Jeroell and Prof Bjorgulf Claussen and Dr Akhtar Hussain, was accompanied by Dr Samad Shera of the Diabetic Association of Pakistan. They took round of streets where they were taken aback at the living conditions of the people. They inquired about the sanitation and water supply and were dismayed by the replies.

They were briefed by LCDP president Abdul Rahim Moosvi and other office-bearers about the activities of the LCDP, particularly of the RHS Project, under which three family health centres were rendering family planning and reproductive health services to 12,000 couples at their door steps.

Later, the delegation was taken to service outlets located within the LCDP premises to apprise them of the diversified services being rendered to the community. All the members were deeply impressed for the dedicated work being done for the last 50 years. -PPI
