KHAIRPUR, April 20: On the directives of District and Sessions Judge Nisar Mohammad Shaikh, a commissioner raided the Kot Diji police station on Tuesday and freed two illegally detained persons.

Sahib Dino Mehrani, father of Allah Bachayo and grandfather of Ghulam Hussain respectively, had filed an application through his lawyer that said the Kot Diji police had illegally detained his son and grandson for the past five days.

On this the district and sessions judge ordered raid commissioner Shafi Mohammad Siddiqui to raid the police station and recover the detained men. After a successful raid, the commissioner ordered the Kot Diji SHO to appear before the court on Wednesday.

DISPUTE: A person was killed and two others injured over a matrimonial dispute in Essa Dhoodhan village on Monday night in the jurisdiction of Ahmedpur police station. Some armed men attacked the house of Jhangal Khan Nangrejo and opened fire as a result of which Jhangal died on the spot while his wife, Waziran, and minor son, Suleman, 6, sustained injuries.

The police have arrested four accused - Moharram, Sultan, Majeed and Illahi Bakhsh (all Nangrejo by caste). The injured were taken to the Khairpur Civil Hospital after receiving first aid from the Pir-jo-Goth Hospital.

ACCIDENTS: Three persons were injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle on the National Highway bypass here on Tuesday. The injured - motorcyclists Pervez Ahmed and Mehboob (both brothers) and car driver Ghulam Shabbir - were admitted in the Khairpur Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, two persons - a woman, Qamarunnisa, and rickshaw driver Ali Sher - were injured in a collision between a rickshaw and a motorcycle here at the Station Road.

In an another incident, an unidentified man of about 35 years of age was killed near the Khairpur railway station after falling from the Shah Rukn-i-Alam Express on Tuesday. The body has been kept at the Khairpur Civil Hospital for identification.

RELEASED: A taxi driver, Mohammad Bakhsh Burdi, who was kidnapped some 25 days ago from the jurisdiction of the Babarloi police station, reached home on Monday night.
