By-polls for NA, PA seats on May 5
ISLAMABAD, April 2: The election commission has announced schedule for by-elections for six vacant seats of the National Assembly and two seats of the Sindh Assembly and fixed May 5 as polling day.
The vacant seats are: NA-89 Jhang-IV, NA-196 Rahim Yar Khan-V, NA-236 Sanghar-III, NA-240 Karachi-II, NA-243 Karachi-V, NA-246 Karachi VIII, PS-31 Khairpur and PS-124 Karachi.
According to the schedule, nomination papers can be filed from April 8 to 10, their scrutiny will be held on April 12 and 13 while April 16 is the last date for filling appeals against returning officers' decisions rejecting or accepting nomination papers.
April 20 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.-APP
Clarification
ISLAMABAD, April 3: Apropos news item about dates for by- elections for six vacant NA and PA seats, the Election Commission has clarified that elections to these seats will be held on May 12 and not May 5, as erroneously reported by APP.
