ISLAMABAD, March 30: The Prime Minister's Secretariat is seized with a proposal to regularize all ad hoc and daily wage teachers of the federal government school system and Islamabad model colleges , said Brig (retired) Maqsoodul Hassan, director- general Federal Directorate of Education, on Tuesday.

Announcing the results of the centralized examinations (2004) of Class 5 and merit scholarships (2003) for Class 8, at the Islamabad Model College for Boys, G-10/4, he hoped that the proposal would be finalized by next year after which all teachers of morning as well as evening shifts would be regularized.

He said the proposal might be delayed because of financial constraints but Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali, in principle, had consented to the proposal. Announcing the results of Class 5, he said two students had been declared first with equal marks of 273 out of 300. They were Imtiaz Ahmed Khan of F.G. Boys Primary School, Khanna Kak, and Umair Arif of F.G. Junior Model School G-10/3.

Arslan Ahmed and Farhan of F.G. Primary School No 35, G-8/4, and F.G. Junior Model School, I-9/1, were declared first and second with 271 and 270 marks, respectively.

The best three institutions on the basis of grade point average are: F.G. Junior Model School, G-10/3, F.G. Girls Primary School, Khanna Nai Abadi, and F.G. Junior Model School, I-9/4.

He said the FDE had been conducting centralized examinations of Class-5 for the last four years. Competitive scholarship examinations for the brighter students of FG schools as well as private candidates of Class 8th are also being held, he added.

Top 150 boys and equal number of girl students of Class 5 of both streams, including F.G. Schools and Islamabad model colleges, were awarded scholarships while 100 students of Class 8 got merit scholarships. The students of Class 5 would be awarded Rs800 each for three years and those of Class 8 would be given Rs850 for two years.

Mr Hassan said 16,721 students had appeared in Class 5 centralized exams of F.G schools, Islamabad model colleges and private candidates, of whom 14,069 were passed at an average of 84.13 per cent. Out of 14,069, 12,209 students belonged to F.G. schools, 2,511 to model colleges and 2001 were private candidates.

About the results of Islamabad model colleges, he said Tayyaba Faiz of the ICG, F-6/2, was declared first for securing 573 marks out of 600, Ayesha Amir of ICG, F-6/2, stood second with 572 marks and Mohammad Bilal of IMCB, G-10/4, was adjudged third with 570 marks.

The best three institutions on the basis of grade point average are: Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-10/2, Islamabad Model College for boys, I-10/1, and Islamabad Model College for Girls, I-8/4.

About the Class 8 scholarship exams, he said Haseeb Fayyaz Abbasi of F.G. Boys Model School, I-9/4, was declared first with 608 marks out of 700, Shukria Kalsoom of F.G Girls Model School, I-8/1, was declared second (595) while Nazneen Afzal of F.G Girls Model School, G-9/3, remained third with 594 marks.
