Multan, March 21: The Punjab PPP has demanded that the matter of giving Pakistan the status of a non-Nato ally by the United States be discussed in parliament. A meeting of the Punjab PPP executive committee was held here on Sunday evening with party's provincial chief Qasim Zia in the chair.

Prominent among others who attended the meeting were party's vice chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan, Naveed Chaudhry, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Mukhtar Awan, Anwarul Haq Ramey, Ahmed Hasan Deharr, Khwaja Rizwan Alam, Tariq Raza Khan and Habibullah Shakir.

Briefing the media about the outcome of the meeting, Qasim Zia said that the ongoing military operation in Wana had also been condemned besides Junta's desperate efforts to get established the country as the major American ally.

Replying questions, he said PPP and ARD did not want to become 'friendly opposition' of the regime by joining hands with MMA in its so-called anti-government drives.
