KARACHI, March 20: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan while expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of complaints centres has directed the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to immediately bring improvement in its working so that complaints of the general public are promptly redressed.

The nazim, who is also the chairman of the KW&SB, was addressing its officials at Civic Centre on Saturday. He asked them to provide water connections to commercial and residential consumers within eight and five days, respectively, through a one-window operation.

In this regard, the nazim has set up a committee, comprising the KW&SB managing director, the chief engineer and the director (B&R), to supervise the process of providing water connections.

He also directed the officials to remove all hurdles in the way of getting water connections. He warned that no negligence on part of the officials would be tolerated.

KW&SB managing director Brig Asif Ghazali, acting managing director designate Shahid Saleem, deputy managing director Syed Akhlaq Hussain were also present on the occasion.

The nazim asked them to adopt a simple proceeder for giving water connections while removing all obstacles so that a maximum number of people could benefit from it.

Later, visiting one of the complaint centres, he asked the KW&SB officials to make arrangements that would help people get water connections without any difficulties.

He also asked the executive engineers to prepare monthly reports about the maintenance and repair of water supply lines and any leakage in their respected towns.-APP
