HARIPUR, March 20: A detained accused allegedly "committed suicide" in the Khanpur police station lock-up on Saturday. According to the Khanpur police station officials , Nazakat was held on Friday evening on suspicion of his involvement in a robbery case. He was brought to the police station for interrogation, the SHO said.

The accused was found dead on Saturday morning, the officials said, adding that his body was hanging from the ventilator in the lock-up.

In another incident, a young girl, Jameela Bibi, committed suicide with a 30-bore pistol in village Dhamkar Colony on Friday evening. She died instantaneously, the family sources said.

A labourer, Syed Israr Hussain Shah, who worked at a factory manufacturing explosives in Hattar, was killed due to an explosion in the factory premises. The reason of explosion could not be known.

Ghazi police quoting an FIR said Wapda's security guard Raja Ehjaz was on duty at Tarbela dam tunnel No. 5 when his relieving colleagues found him dead on the post.
