PESHAWAR: Murderer awarded death

PESHAWAR, March 20: The additional district and sessions judge, Shehbar Khan, on Saturday awarded capital punishment to an accused in a murder case.

The court also fined the accused Said Wahid Rs50,000 and directed that the fine should be paid to the deceased's family.

The accused was also convicted under the Arms Ordinance and was sentenced to two years' imprisonment.

The convict Said Wahid, son of Arjuman Khan, of Bahadur Kot, Kohat district had killed Abdullah, a resident of Lower Dir, in the premises of Kohat Sessions Court on Dec 21, 2002.

The deceased was father-in-law of the accused's brother. They were having a family dispute and a case was pending in the court. Initially, the Kohat district and sessions judge was conducting the trial, but on the application of the complainant's party the Peshawar High Court shifted the trial to Peshawar.
