GUJRANWALA, March 17: The local Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 accepted the interim bail of former Sialkot SHO Zulfikar Ali Virk involved in the Sialkot jail incident when he appeared before court here on Wednesday.

However, judge Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah issued arrest warrants for the fourth time against Elite Force three officials - Inamullah, Shabbir Ahmad and Qaiser Mahmood for their continuous absence from court.

The judge ordered the former SHO to deposit surety bonds worth Rs200,000. The judge adjourned the case till March 30 when former DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal pleaded that he would have to appear before Lahore High Court on March 22 for pursuing his interim bail application.

The former Sialkot DPO Amjad Javed Saleemi, Gujrat DPO Raja Munawer Hussain, former Sialkot jail superintendent and four deputy superintendents and other accused were also present in the court.

EXHIBITION: The industrial exhibition organized by the local chamber of commerce and industry is continuing at Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park where about 100 stalls of Made in Gujranwala products and 14 stalls of food have been installed.

Jamil Mahmood, the South Asian Regional Cooperation (Sarc) chamber of commerce and industry vice-president, and other senior officers of various government functionaries visited the exhibition here on Wednesday.

They went to various stalls and evinced keen interest in quality products. They expressed the hope that manufacturers would further improve their products to compete in the international market. GCCI president Sheikh Shaukat Javed and other office bearers also accompanied them. The guests suggested that such industrial exhibition should be organized in other Sarc countries to promote trade relations.

Life Term: The sessions court awarded life term to three murder convicts here on Wednesday. According to the prosecution, Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Afzal and Muhammad Babar quarrelled with Majid Husain, of Islampura (Kamoki), over money and stabbed him to death two years ago. The police arrested them within days and submitted chargesheet against them in the sessions court.

KILLED: A grocer was stabbed to death by a barber over petty issue at Kohlowala village on Wednesday. Reports said Adnan, 19, was at his shop when Shahid came there and had a quarrel with him. The next moment Shahid stabbed to death Adnan and escaped. Saddar police have registered a case against the suspect.
